Liveable City Board Resolution Regarding AMD Locating over the Aquifer
The Board of Liveable City unanimously passed the following resolution on April 16, 2005:
Liveable City recognizes that AMD is one of Austin's leading major employers and respects it longstanding contributions to AustinÃs economy.
Liveable City also recognizes the Austin community's longstanding policy against locating major employers over the Aquifer.
Austin should not be forced to choose between two of its highest priorities - major employer jobs and a clean environment. We are confident there are sites that will serve AMD well and not damage our fragile environment.
We request that AMD reconsider its decision and find a new site location that works for its employees as well as for the environment.
We are prepared to lend whatever help we can to find a new site.
