AIBA Opposes Wal-Mart
On July 2, a standing-room only crowd of more than 500 concerned citizens packed the auditorium at Bowie High School for a town hall meeting concerning the building of a Wal-Mart Superstore on Slaughter Lane. The crowd of neighborhood association members, environmentalists, AIBA members and others was against this development for numerous reasons. The development is over the Edwards Aquifer in an environmentally sensitive zone and would stress roads and other community resources. The AIBA board voted to join many other organizations and oppose the project.
