Wal-Mart Resolution - Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods
WHEREAS the Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods have unanswered concerns regarding the proposed Wal-Mart Super-center project to be located on Deer Park at Maple Run tract 8; and
WHEREAS the proposed Wal-Mart project initiates commercial development out of scale with the local residential environment
WHEREAS the proposed 24-hour operation of the Wal-Mart is not appropriate where commercial traffic must use neighborhood streets to access the facility and
WHEREAS the proposed location does not have adequate access for the amount of estimated vehicular traffic without posing a danger to local residents and all traffic in the immediate area; and
WHEREAS the proposed project is astride the environmentally fragile Edwards Aquifer recharge zone; and
WHEREAS the member associations of the Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods have grave concerns regarding the potential for aquifer degradation due to runoff from the proposed project; and
WHEREAS the concerns about runoff from the proposed project have not been adequately addressed;
Therefore be it resolved
The Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods and itÃs member organizations, in support of the surrounding neighborhoods, is opposed to the Wal-Mart Super-center; and
Be it further resolved
The Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods urges Endeavor Real Estate to with draw the Wal-Mart from the project and substitute businesses that are more suitable for a residential area; and
Be it finally resolved
The Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods requests the Wal-Mart Company to develop the proposed project in a more suitable area with better vehicle access.
