Wal-Mart Resolution - Shady Hollow Homeowners Association
Wal-Mart Resolution - Shady Hollow Homeowners Association
RESOLUTION BOARD of DIRECTORS SHADY HOLLOW HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS the Shady Hollow Homeowners Association has unanswered concerns regarding the proposed Wal-Mart Super-center project to be located on Deer Park at Maple Run tract 8; and
WHEREAS the traffic impact assessment was limited to the streets immediately adjoining the property and did not address the impact on Brodie Lane; and
WHEREAS the proposed location, which is astride the environmentally fragile Edwards Aquifer recharge zone, has been exempted by the City of Austin from compliance with the 1992 water quality ordinance; and
WHEREAS the proposed project encroaches upon the setback for critical environmental features; and
WHEREAS the concerns about runoff from the proposed project have not been adequately addressed; and
WHEREAS the development as planned creates an unacceptable risk to the safety of children living in the Sendera neighborhood because the development is placed in the vicinity of the neighborhood pool. These children will be exposed to an increase in traffic and this traffic will include a high volume of strangers in the neighborhood.
Therefore be it resolved:
The Shady Hollow Homeowners Association, in support of the surrounding neighborhoods, is opposed to the Wal-Mart Super-center; and
Be it further resolved:
The Shady Hollow Homeowners Association requests Endeavor Real Estate and the Wal-Mart Company to develop the proposed project in a more suitable location that has better vehicle access and does not jeopardize the community water supply.
Signed:
Rob Reesor, President
Shady Hollow Homeowners Association
